UNIRAZAK CEO Series 1/2019 officially kicked off on 4 April 2019 with our debut speaker, YBhg. Dato’ Abdul Rahman Ahmad, President and Group Chief Executive of Permodalan Nasional Berhad (PNB). As a leading government-linked investment corporation, PNB presently manages over RM290 billion of assets, primarily for the Malaysian public under its unit trust operations.

Dato’ Abdul Rahman was formerly with Ekuiti Nasional Berhad (Ekuinas) as its Director and Chief Executive Officer. Prior to Ekuinas, he was the Group Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of Media Prima Berhad and Group Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of Malaysian Resources Corporation Berhad.

This CEO Series 1/2019 speaker holds an MA in Economics from Cambridge University and is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW). Dato’ Abdul Rahman is also currently the Non-Executive Chairman of Velesto Energy Berhad, an oil and gas services company listed on the Main Market of Bursa Malaysia.

During the talk, Dato’ Abdul Rahman shared his vast experience in leadership positions including one at a comparably young age and what he has learned in managing key businesses as well as expectations from the general public. Tips and advice were also shared, among them: leadership by example, cultivating CEO mindset and character, the importance of passion to do great work, having the persistency to move a company culture forward, having the ability to affect and engage people, the need for technical competency and having learning agility and proper understanding about business.
